A cancer diagnosis does not automatically preclude you from having coverage under a Goose travel insurance policy. However, if you have received cancer treatment or have been recommended to receive treatment for cancer in the three months prior to the date of your trip, you will not be covered by our Emergency Travel Medical insurance for anything directly or indirectly related to it.
Even if our 'Unstable Pre-Existing Condition coverage' is purchased, no expenses related to this condition can be covered. You must also still meet the other eligibility requirements for coverage under the Goose policy (Canadian resident with provincial health care coverage; not have received a terminal diagnosis with less than 1 year life expectancy). For more information, please contact a Goose agent.
Should I add Goose's 'Unstable Pre-existing Condition' coverage?
Further, you may still be eligible for coverage for other medical emergencies while travelling, unrelated to the cancer diagnosis. For example, if you break a leg or get food poisoning, your related medical expenses can be covered by our policy. An infection related to a chemo port however, would not be covered, for example. Please see our policy wordings for full details - the most recent versions can be found here on our website: https://www.gooseinsurance.com/en/travel/policy-wordings
