We offer coverage on both a single (per trip) basis or on an annual multi-trip basis. On an annual policy, you would select the trip duration package that best fits your travel plans (we offer 2-day, 5, 10, 20, 35 or 60-day trip duration packages), and pay once for this policy.
Let's say you selected the 35-day annual plan - each time you leave Canada your 35 days of coverage would begin. Travel anywhere in the world, and when you step back into Canada, your 35-day counter resets back to zero... you can then head off for another 35 days on another trip, and do this as many times as you wish within the 12-month period!
You don't need to contact us before each trip; only if a particular trip is going to be longer than the trip duration package you've selected and an extension is required. We also encourage you to contact us if your health or medications change during the course of the year, requiring the addition of our Unstable Pre-Existing Condition rider. This rider can be added mid-term (if you don't require it when you first buy your annual plan), if you're in your home province when you make the request. More info on this additional rider here: Should I add Goose's 'Unstable Pre-existing Condition' coverage?
