Having Trip Cancellation insurance in place is a good idea if you have to pay for trip expenses ahead of time (like flights, accommodations, special guided tours or packages) and the service providers have made it clear that the money you've paid is completely non-refundable. If something unexpected happens and you have to cancel, they've made it clear you're not getting your money back. If you purchase Goose's optional Trip Cancellation coverage, you may be able to claim for those non-refundable funds and get your money back from Goose instead.
The reason for the cancellation must be listed in our policy wording under 'Covered Risks'.
Quick note of warning though: If you become aware of a reason that your trip might be affected before you've purchased this insurance, the coverage won't apply. For example, if a pet or family member is very sick and you worry it may impact your travel plans in some way, this coverage is not for you. Cancellation insurance is designed for completely unexpected and unknown scenarios that may come up after your travel plans have been made.
COVID-19 is another example of a well-known situation that can be expected to likely have an impact on any travel plans for the foreseeable future. If your trip is interrupted in some way due to the pandemic and it results in extra expenses or lost fees paid, Trip Cancellation coverage will not reimburse you. Please see our policy wording for full details.
